Hello my friends! So the second week of Fall banding has passed. We did not get as high numbers as last week. Christine thinks that it may be due to the nice cool weather and lack of storms. It's perfect migration weather so the birds are just continuing to fly right on past us and not stop down to feed and get caught in our nets! Seeing as this weekend we got storms, hopefully that will make the birds drop down and we will get more impressive numbers this upcoming week. Keep your fingers crossed!
Here is an after hatch year female american redstart, such bright beautiful plumage for a lady bird!
One of our gems this week :o) Hatch year ruby-throated hummingbird
After hatch year Baltimore Oriole. Compare to the coloration to the picture of the hatch year Baltimore Oriole below!
***NOTE*** We are now able to access the Erie Bluffs banding site. We will be there on Thursdays as originally scheduled. Thank you so much Sarah for your help clearing our net lanes!
