Blue Jay kind of day

This past Thursday out at Erie Bluffs ended up being a Blue Jay kind of day. We had a flock come through, half of which we got to band. We also had a few more Eastern Towhees and White-throated Sparrows (big surprise). But besides the Blue Jays, the catch of the day goes to our first Red-bellied Woodpecker. Friday at Fry's Landing we had a variety of warblers: Yellow, Western Palm, Black-throated Blue, and Myrtle's Yellow-rumped. We also had some Common Yellowthroats, a House Wren, and Swamp Sparrow. Saturday was the Festival of Birds, and we had quite the gathering at the banding station at Niagra. Some exciting birds we banded were a Black and White Warbler, American Redstart, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Downy Woodpecker and a Northern Flicker. We also caught a Ruby-throated Hummingbird, but did not band it.
